The legend goes like this, Mahakal temple was once Dorjeling monastery which was built in the year 1765 by the lama Dorje Rinzing. This beautiful monastery was destroyed during Gorkha Invasions. After several years this monastery was rebuilt as Mahakal temple. It is considered as one of the major pilgrimage centres for both Hindus and Buddhist. Since this temple was previously a monastery hundreds of Buddhist monks and Hindu priests step into this temple daily and perform various types of rituals. Tourists who flock to this temple and other shrines near the temple also step into observatory hill. Visitors can see an entire range of peaks, Kanchenjunga and other silent valleys. The heart will melt when tourists enter this hill and watch the peaks and valleys. Mahakal cave is also very famous and pilgrims have to crawl to get inside it. Both observatory hill and Mahakal temple are located behind the Chowrasta temple. Tourists will get maximum information about these wonderful spots when they enter Darjeeling. Cancellation Policy:
• If cancellations are made 30 days before the start date of the visit, 25% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
• If cancellations are made 15-30 days before the start date of the visit, 50% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
• If cancellations are made within 0-15 days before the start date of the visit, 100% of the total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
