Situated in the lap of nature, Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh is a dreamy destination for travel lovers. You are perhaps accustomed to the usual sightseeing by car, but have you considered nature walk? Surrounded by hills, the city of Shimla is known for its exquisite beauty. You won't be able to fully grasp the essence of this historical city unless you go for a walk across the hilly paths and explore for yourself.

The tour guide will walk you through the city that once used to be the summer capital of the British Raj. During the nineteenth century, the British government built the hill city and provided it with all the comforts and luxuries of the plains. The roads are well-constructed, and the Tudor-style architecture of the buildings add to the city's ancient charm. The place used to be home to numerous wild animals before the city of Shimla came to existence. Even today, Shimla is surrounded by a huge jungle.

While walking along the nature trails, you will feel the purity of the city. The temperature is comfortable, the roads are serene, and nature is greener than ever. Everywhere you go, you will see houses and hotels adorned with blooming flowers and fruits.

There are quite a few nature trails in Shimla that you should definitely explore. Apart from the most popular ones, there are a few lesser-known hidden trails that we include in our walking tour.

Our Shimla walking tour will help you reconnect with nature. You will have an opportunity to know more about the culture, history and heritage of this hill-city. You will get an insight into the daily lives of the local residents. The city has gone through a lot of changes in the past two centuries. But the old establishments of Shimla, starting from Christ Church to the Visceral Lodge, to the Gothic-styled Gaiety Theatre, still tell tales of the bygone days.

When to Visit:

Shimla mostly has pleasant weather all throughout the year. Monsoon is not suitable for nature walks, but rain brings out the lush greenery of the city, making it look even more enchanting. From March to June Shimla is usually bursting with tourists from all over India, and October to February is the time when tourists come here to experience snowfall. During winter, the temperature goes down as low as -2°C.
