Itinerary


Day 01: Arrival Antananarivo – Antsirabe

After breakfast, drive to Antsirabe through the mountains, the hills and the rice fields. On the way you will see many burial tombs, some simple; others elaborate which play an important role in the local people and their fascination with the afterlife. Arrive in Antsirabe after 03 hours drive: the thermal station, "the water city» as it is called; it has become a very important economic city, famous for its fresh products and its mineral water, commonly called "Visy Gasy". The town is well known as well on the numerous rickshaws and on precious and semi-precious stones. Accommodation in your hotel. 

Day 02:  Antsirabe - Ambositra – Fianarantsoa

Breakfast at the hotel. Short city tour of the town and its small manufacturer of corn horns, semi precious stones. Drive to Ambositra the capital of the Malagasy handicrafts. Visit of different shops then continuation to Fianarantsoa.  Upon arrival, city tour in this town which is the capital of the Betsileo tribe. Accommodation in your hotel.

Day 03: Fianarantsoa - Ambalavao – Ranohira

Morning departure from Fianarantsoa for the very long days drive southwards, going down to the southern part.

In Ambalavao there is an interesting factory making hand-made paper which is well worth visiting. It takes ten minutes or so to see the various processes at work and there is a small gift shop at which you can buy some of the products. A visit to a local vineyard will also be made. On Wednesday the zebu market is very interesting. Visit of the Anja villager’s reserve where you can spot easily the ring tailed lemur. In the afternoon the second part of the journey is over Ihosy to the wide Horombe grassland plains and on towards Ranohira. The scenery begins to change as you travel through the ‘Gateway to the South’ mountain and enter the attractive countryside of the Betsileo people where granite outcrops dominate the skyline. Here the village architecture also begins to change, from the single-storey ‘African-style’ house to the double-storey buildings of the central highlands where the people a more akin to those from southeast Asia than Africa. Accommodation in your hotel.

Day 04: Ranohira

Breakfast at the hotel, drive to the village of Ranohira for picking your local guide. Transfer to the parking area where you are starting walking towards the natural swimming pool. In the afternoon, visit of Namaza canyon in visiting the Cascade des Nymphes. Possibility of spotting the ring tailed lemur, the verreaux'ssifaka lemur and the red fronted brown lemur.During the visit you might spot some bird species as the Madagascar Hoopoe, common Newtonia and with the chance the juvenile long eared owl.Possibility to enjoy the sunset at the natural rock window of Isalo if time allowed. Accommodation in your hotel.

Day 05: Ranohira - Tulear – Ifaty

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Toliara through different villages of sapphire miners and the southern savannah. Along the way baobab trees, well painted tombs as well as typical villages of the southern tribes can be seen. Arrival in Toliara, then continue to Ifaty check-in at your hotel. Accommodation in your hotel.

Day 06: Ifaty

Breakfast at hotel. Day free at leisure. Overnight at hotel.​

Day 07: Ifaty - Toliara – Antananarivo

Breakfast at the hotel. At leisure until departure. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Antananarivo. Meet upon arrival and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, city tour of the town and shopping at Digue market.  Accommodation on in your hotel.

Day 08: Depart Antananarivo

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport and flight back home​
