Day 01: Arrival London
Welcome to England. Once your flight has landed our driver would be waiting to assist you with your luggage before transferring you to your hotel. Once you have settled in and recovered from the journey you could spend some time exploring the sights around you and dinner (not included) in one of the many top class restaurants London is so famous for. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 02: London
Once breakfast is over it would be time to head out to see the sights of the city which are of interest to you. The Royal Mews is a wonderful place to visit and are one of the largest working stables in Europe. The staffs are responsible for making many of the travel arrangements for the Queen and the royal family and the Mews also house many of the coaches and carriages which are used during state occasions. One of the most impressive coaches is the Gold State Coach which was built for George III in 1762. The spectacular coach weighs nearly 4 tons and takes 8 horses to pull it and has been used to carry each monarch to their coronation since 1821. You could also see the Changing of the Guards outside Buckingham Palace, a spectacle that has been taking place for many years and shows off the pomp and ceremony associated with it. You could then go on to see our Parliament buildings including Big Ben as well as the London Eye, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and St Pauls Cathedral. Westminster Abbey is also a lovely place to visit with a long and rich history. This beautiful building has been the venues for many of the royal weddings over the years including William and Kate. There are many wonderful museums and art galleries which you would visit, many of which are free to enter, including the British Museum and its many different collections from around the world from Chinese figures, Egyptian artefacts including the Rosetta Stone which was a major discovery enabling the ancient hieroglyphics to be deciphered for the first time. There are also wonderful collects from Greece, Cyprus and the Far East and collections of coins, jewelry and timepieces which date back hundreds or thousands of years. In the evenings there are many wonderful restaurants for you to try which serve food (not included) from all around the world before heading to the theatre to see a show. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 03: London
After breakfast, your day’s tour will take you just outside London to visit the extraordinary Warner Bros Studios where many of the Harry Potter films were made. This amazing tour takes you through the magic of Hogwarts and beyond as you visit the various sets built for the film. Hagrid’s house, potions class and Dumbledore’s study are amongst the fabulous sets you will see. You will also have the chance to visit Diagon Alley and the famous school hall used in the making of all the films. As well as well as the sets you would also have the chance to see many of the costumes and props used and even get to ride a broomstick! Overnight at the hotel.
Day 04: Stonehenge, Oxford
Breakfast at the hotel. Once you have checked out of your hotel our driver would be waiting to start you on your tour of the country. Heading west from the capital your tour would start with a visit to Stonehenge which is one of the most baffling places in the country. Clouded in mystery, the ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is an amazing feat of engineering and the most important prehistoric site in England, but beyond its archaeological significance and possible astronomical role, Stonehenge is also a place of spiritual importance. Early legends link it with Merlin and King Arthur, but over the last hundred years the midsummer sunrise has attracted pagan groups and followers of the Ancient Order of Druids. Departing from Stonehenge your route to Oxford can take you to a variety of directions and you will have the choice and flexibility to choose with your driver/guide. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 05: Oxfordshire
Breakfast at the hotel. Today’s sightseeing would give you the opportunity to visit 2 of the most fabulous places in the country, Blenheim Palace and Oxford. Blenheim Palace is a masterpiece of English Baroque architecture and was the birthplace of one of our most influential Prime Ministers, Sri Winston Churchill. The beautiful staterooms are brimming with priceless works of art and magnificent tapestries which can be hundreds of years old. The palace is still inhabited today by the Duke of Marlborough. Having viewed the house you would then have the opportunity to visit the 754 hectares of grounds which include fabulous water gardens and a boating lake. After spending time at this beautiful Palace your tour will continue to the historic city of Oxford. This is the city of Dreaming Spires and home to the world's most famous university. Its colleges date back to the 13th century, an inspiration to generations of scholars including President Bill Clinton, and the authors J R R Tolkien, Lewis Carroll and C S Lewis. During your time in Oxford, you could enjoy a walking tour to see Christ Church College, the Bodleian Library and the Sheldonian Theatre. Once your time in Oxford is over it would be time to head to your hotel for the night. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 06: York
Breakfast at the hotel. Time to check out of your hotel and travel to the north of the country and the beautiful city of York. York’s history truly begins with the Romans. The city was founded in about AD 71 when the 5,000 men of the Ninth Legion marched from Lincoln and set up camp. Eboracum, as the Romans called York, was born. In the 19th century, York became a hub of the railway network and a confectionery manufacturing center. In recent decades, the economy of York has moved from being dominated by its confectionery and railway-related industries to one that provides services. There are many historic places for you to see in York including Clifford’s Tower which stands as a proud symbol of the power of England’s medieval kings. Originally built by William the Conqueror to subdue the rebels of the north, it was twice burned to the ground, before being rebuilt by Henry III in the 13th century. The tower takes its name from one grisly incident in its long history when Roger de Clifford was executed for treason against Edward II and hanged in chains from the tower walls. With sweeping panoramic views of York and the surrounding countryside, it isn't hard to see why Clifford's Tower played such a crucial role in the control of northern England. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 07: York
Breakfast at the hotel. Another chance to see the sights of this historic city awaits you today. There are many wonderful places to visit including the Yorvik Centre which tells the history of the Roman beginnings of the city. You could spend some time visiting the National Railway Museum where you can see over 300 years of locomotive history under one roof with giant halls full of trains including the majestic Duchess of Hamilton, the futuristic Japanese Bullet Train or marvel at the stunning opulence of the Royal Trains. Another lovely place to visit is the magnificent York Minster, which dominates the city skyline. This impressive building had been completed after 250 years of work and is crowned with the stunning tower which can be climbed for those who are brave enough. The Tower weighs 16,000 tonnes – about the same as 40 jumbo jets and has 275 steps to the top. On the way, you pass the Minster’s medieval pinnacles and gargoyles before reaching the stunning views over the city and the ancient streets below. In the afternoon you could stop for a bite to eat in Betty’s Tearoom which is a must for anyone visiting the city. Enjoy a bite to eat and a cup of tea before tucking into the mouthwatering cakes. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 08: York
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you would have the chance to visit the beautiful Yorkshire Dales with it beautiful scenery and pretty villages. You could visit the Aysgarth Waterfalls which were featured in the film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves where Robin first met the outlaws and fought Little John. You could also visit the Wensleydale Cheese factory where the world famous cheese is made and enjoy lunch, which mostly involves cheese, in the lovely restaurant. The rest of the day could be spent exploring the beautiful scenery and the wonderful views from the top of the hill which, in places, stretch into the neighboring counties. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 09: London
Breakfast at the hotel. Once you have checked out of your hotel your driver would start the journey back towards London for your final night. There are many different towns and villages that you could visit along the way which would give you an insight into the different parts of the country and the people who live there. The day would end back near London at your airport hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Depart London
Once breakfast is over it would be time to check out of your hotel and head to the terminal to catch your flight home.
